Two on Two _We've gotten the two kids to two parents thing down. It's the two kids to one parent thing that I'm still getting used to. While I feed Kira, Michael either decides he needs extra attention or he realizes that I am stuck in a spot and he can have the run of the house. During feedings, Michael has climbed onto the dining room table and was dancing around; he's pulled all of the folded laundry out of a dresser drawer; and he has cleared a table in the living room, climbed it and started switching the lights on and off. He eventually fell and became stuck between the table, couch, and wall. I had to move the table before I could get him loose... he's a crazy little monkey. I am trying to think up ways to keep Michael entertained and distracted during feedings, hopefully, things that do not involve the TV. Michael is still going through the baby phase. He actually asked to play the nigh-night game in Kira's crib and while in the crib wanted me to hold his sippy cup while he drank (like a bottle). Michael has been sitting, bouncing, and swinging in Kira's Bouncy Seat and Swing. He even had some tummy time on a Tummy Mat. Michael has become attached to a Winnie the Pooh bear. He brings it to bed with him and requires that we cover Pooh and pat his back. He's also been putting Pooh into the bouncy seat and covering him up and telling him Nigh Night. Michael is saying Uh Oh whenever he goes in his diaper, so we are going to retry the potty training thing soon... once he is out of the baby phase. Michael is a Loving Little Weirdo _Michael is the most amazing AND the strangest kid we have ever met! His newest game to play with his daddy is to make a MEAN face, growl, then crawl head first into his daddy (like a bull). I tried to get a shot of the "mean" face but it isn't as menacing in photos... it is just cute. Michael loves his daddy so much. I recently found Michael in Meven's closet tickling his shirts. I am pretty sure Michael already loves Kira too. He is always rubbing her head and trying to hold her hand. The other day, he tried to give her a high five. Michael is a stickler for routine. He likes to nap in his bed, feet on one side board, his head on the other, with his head facing away from the wall. We have tried multiple times to get him to cuddle with us and sleep but it never works. He always thinks it is play time and gets really hyper, giggling and squirming and trying to tickle and wake us up. We've all been a little sick this week and I was able to get him to fall asleep cuddling with me while watching cartoons. It was the coziest nap ever! Michael snuggled next to me, Kira close by, all snoozing away! I wish we had HD cameras everywhere in the house so that we could get stills or videos of every moment. New Stuff _We never wanted to be the overachieving parents that forced tons of information down our toddlers throat, but at the same time we are trying to remember that we should be teaching Michael SOMETHING. Every once in a while, we get worried that he isn't meeting the goals for his age or has something wrong because... let's face it... he is a strange kid. So I looked it up, he should be able to clearly say about 20 words and a phrase or two. He's got that down! We must not be doing too horribly as parents. Now we don't have to worry for a few months. We are going to try a little harder to teach him new words and phrases. AND Less TV for sure. Michael, Kira, and I are going to join Meven in his quest for a tech free Lent. Meven is attempting no TV, computer, internet, cell phone games, PS3... we may not go that hardcore, but we'll be cutting back for sure! _We've been working on letters, numbers, and the word YES! While it is cute when he answers every question with a tiny, enthusiastic no, it does get frustrating trying to decipher the Yes / No's from the No / No's. Michael said TWO while counting to five; TEE, TWO, TEE, TEE, TEE. Of course, when I went to film him, I got the TEE, TEE, TEE, TEE, TEE version. Michael may not have a huge vocabulary, but being our child, he of course, can already use cuss words... sort of. He stubbed his toe and said Ah Chia, which we have translated to mean Oh Shit. It seems to be his new favorite phrase. Connie and Cooper came by to wish me a Happy Birthday and bring some much needed snooty coffee!! THANKS! Cooper and Michael actually played a game with each other!! They were on different sides of the love sac and played pee-a-boo. Everybody is sick!!! Meven has pneumonia and strep throat. Michael, Kira, and I are all congested. This week has been rough! We got a Christmas present from Aunt Cindy and Uncle Johnny. Michael LOVED all his goodies. He even slept with the Cars cup one night. Silly weirdo! Kira is TWO WEEKS OLD _I can't believe she is already two weeks old. You would think, two weeks isn't very long but it feels like just a few weeks ago we were staring at a positive pregnancy test. Kira is already changing and growing. She seems longer; she is more alert; she is reacting to things, staring into our eyes, even doing these half smiles. I am pretty sure these "smiles" are gas related, but I like to pretend they are because she sees me. :-) Kira loves to be held, caressed, cuddled. When she is upset, sometimes all it takes to calm her is to run your finger across her forehead. There have been times when she seemed so uncomfortable, grunting and squirming but within 30 seconds of picking her up, she is passed out cold. She makes you feel like you have some sort of super mommy powers. The Arrival of the Belly Button _I remember being so excited when Michael's umbilical stump fell off and I had the same feeling again when it happened with Kira. Not sure exactly why it is so amazing to me... maybe it is because this is the last piece that connected her to me... or maybe because it is so nasty looking that I'm just happy to have a cute little belly button to look at instead. It's just cool!
