D, 4, YELLOW This week we are working on the letter D, the number 4, and YELLOW. Michael also said his first two syllable word... BIRDHOUSE. Michael started doing the "I CAN DO IT" thing. He is refusing help for random tasks. Michael had a fever of 101.4 and was pretty sickly for a couple of days. Kira is still having trouble with the poopage. She is only going every three days and she is not happy about it. So we introduced PRUNES! She HATES THEM!! Absolutely HATES them! Like, she was mad that I kept spooning them into her mouth! But it only took a few hours and she pooped. So we will need to keep prunes on hand for a while! Poor picky pants girl! We also decided to go ahead with broccoli. She LOVES broccoli, so I think it makes up for the prunes! Hippy chicky, DIY, homemade, going green... whatever you want to call it. We are growing our own vegetables and I realized that any chemical that we flush down our drains would go into our septic tank and eventually into the ground. Since I am not using fertilizers or pesticides on our veggies... it makes sense that would I not want bleach or windex or any other nasty chemicals to be sucked up by my food. This started me down the path of finding natural cleaners that work as good as my unnatural ones. As I would run out of one product, I would replace it with the more natural / hippy chick / Whole Foods version. This endeavor ended up being a little more expensive than I wanted. So I eventually transitioned to making my own... thank you Pinterest! The first product I made was a variation on the Mold / Mildew spray found here: http://www.marthastewart.com/267380/clean-green-natural-cleaning-products. I am using about a teaspoon or more (I wasn't very accurate) of tea tree oil mixed with water (enough to fill the spray bottle I had on hand). I started using the Mold / Mildew spray in the bathroom but found that it worked great on our wood table. So now it has become my PLEDGE REPLACEMENT. I still use it in the guest bath because I like the smell. ONE PRODUCT DOWN! After this, I went a little nuts! We now have an All Purpose Cleaner, Dishwashing Detergent, Window Cleaner, and we are using Soap Nuts for our laundry. I have also been using lemons, baking soda, and castille soap for a sink / shower / faucet scrub. And distilled white vinegar is the most amazing substance on the planet! We did a Jack Daniel's Distillery Tour on Saturday. The Lay's came with us! Good times!
