It Begins... ...the Language Explosion and the Terrible Two's I keep reading that at around two years old a toddler's language skills will sky rocket. We keep waiting for this explosion and I think we are close to blastoff. My favorite of the new words is the phrase Baby Poop! The way he says poop is so cute! He likes to roll his R's, even when there is no R to roll. Block = drrrrlllock; Poo Poo = ohpoo; Poop = Pawp; Cup = hup; Apple = ahhhpa. He has also begun his terrible twos and we have begun putting him in time out. He was extremely cranky one day and literally went from his bed in the morning, straight to time out and spent a good portion of his day there. It was a battle! Over the next couple of days, the amount of time spent in his time out area lessened. Hopefully he has learned who is the boss. During one of his time out sessions, he decided he was done sitting in the time out area (two minutes must seem like forever to a two year old) and he slowly and quietly crawled toward the living room and peaked his head around the record player. I just saw these cute little eyes smiling at me. Even though he is so stinking cute, I still held my ground. When his time out was finally over, he crawled off down the hallway. Before he came back into the living room, he patted the rug and said WHOA like he was asking permission to come back in the living room. We had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Michael and Meven bought me a balloon and some pretty sparkly candles. We cooked a delicious and healthy dinner of Andouille sausage, potatoes, risotto and a salad.
