January 15 through January 21, 2012 Sick People _Michael and I have Meven's funk. Michael tested positive for strep and since I am feeling crappy, the docs are just treating us both with antibiotics. He did so great at the doctor's office. They even swabbed the back of his throat and he didn't cry. Michael LOVED getting a sucker and some Toy Story stickers. We can't believe that Michael was still his happy little self while he had strep. We kept thinking he wasn't sick because he was so happy. Luckily, we decided to go in just in case. We spent most of this week spoiling our little sick boy. More cookies, more ice cream, more of all the extra yummy stuff. :-) After a few days of antibiotics, he was feeling much better. Kira has been a little bit congested but overall seems to be feeling fine. It is kinda hard to tell with an almost three week old baby, but she doesn't cry much and has no fever. She sleeps A LOT! HA HA! No Dah Dos = YES _Michael no longer says NO when he means YES. He says No Dah Dos... We have absolutely no idea where this came from, but at least we now know his NO from his YES. Smart Little Monkey _Have you ever seen the Rise of the Planet of the Apes? You know the part where that ape busts out his first word and you have the "WHAT THE HELL?! - Did that just happen?" reaction. I had one of those moments with Michael. We were in his room. He was playing and I was feeding Kira. Then Michael decides to climb his piano, reach onto his dresser, and turn on his iPod. HE TURNED ON HIS IPOD! Not like, he randomly hit the buttons to make the ipod work. He hit THE PLAY button the right amount of times to make sound happen. He is way too intelligent for my own good. Michael's favorite toy of the week is his shopping cart. He has pushed it around for about an hour each day "shopping" for random objects from around the house. Michael also learned how to unzip a zipper this week. He was very proud! Still a Baby _Michael is still pretending to be a baby. He did finally let go of the pacifier habit. His new obsession is to drag Kira's car seat around the house. He also likes to sit in Kira's bath tub, bouncy seat, or swing. Michael has been carrying around his own babies, zebra, Pooh bear, George, the aliens, and putting them in Kira's seats. He is still asking to get his diaper changed any time Kira gets a change. Speaking of diaper changes... we are working on potty training. Each time Michael says "Uh Oh" and grabs his diaper, we put him on the potty and talk about going to the potty, blah blah. Well, each time he says "Uh Oh", he has already gone in his diaper. I had the bright idea of putting the toddler potty in the kitchen, thinking that he was going in his diaper from the time he says "Uh Oh" to the time we got him to his potty which was in our bathroom. On Saturday, Michael said, "Uh Oh." So, I took him to the kitchen and took off his diaper and sat him on the potty. He had already gone in his diaper, but I had him sit on the potty for a minute anyway. Once he was over sitting on the potty, I went to grab another diaper from his room and left him in the kitchen. On my way to his room, I got distracted by a load of laundry and took a minute to start the load. When I got back into the kitchen, literally just a few minutes after I had left Michael in there, I found him on top of the dining room table, squatting over a place mat that he had just taken a large poop on. It was the most disgusting, yet most hilarious site ever. All I could do was laugh. Needless to say, that place mat has been thrown out and the table has been disinfected many, many times. Kira's First Real Bath Now that Kira's umbilical stump has fallen off, we are able to give her a real bath. She was not exactly happy about the experience. But she smells better! She ended up taking two baths this week because she is so smelly. I don't remember Michael being this smelly. HA HA! Kira had to get prettied up for her visitors.
Dacia and Kendra came by on Saturday morning. They are smitten. They brought her this cute little onesie that has hearts on it. They also brought Michael a book that is a book and a drum. It is his new favorite toy. Lowercase and Dalton came by as well. Michael had an absolute blast having a kid around to play ball with him.
